Word For Mac Won't Print Page Range
I have a document with ~1000 pages, every page have a address on it, and the page format is envelope. When I tried to print a page, for tests, it does not print. I tried for 2 hours diferent settings, and no luck. After 2 hours i tried to print the entire document, with only 2 envelope in the printer, and it start printing OK. Word doesn't seem to like it. In the print dialogue box, as soon as you click on 'from' to pick the pages, the preview goes blank and it says it's showing 0 of 0 pages. Putting in page #s doesn't change it, only if you change the option to either print all or current page. None can print a page range or current page, the whole document prints instead. I have tried to 'Convert' to the 2010 format to no avail. This does not happen on Documents created in 2010. The only workaround I have found is to Copy the entire document into a New Word 2010 Document.
We've found that printing a custom page range in MS Word 2010 isn't working. We can print the entire document but if we specify printing pages 6-8 for example nothing prints out and no error message is given. We can print to CutePDF (and other PDF converters) but again only the entire document. When we specify a custom page range the result is no output. With the entire document converted to PDF we can use our PDF software to print a custom page range.
The problem seem to be clearly with Microsoft Word 2010 and not our printer. I've read that, specifying page sections as well as page numbers has worked for others having this problem. For example instead of printing 6-9 you can instead word to print p6s1-p9s1 but we aren't interested in that level of tom foolery.
Any one know how to get custom print ranger behavior in Word 2010 to work like past version of MS Word? So I had the same problem occur and I found a solution for everyone. When you look at the number of pages in the status bar in Word (bottom left corner) it reads something like. Page: 1 of 20. Or however many pages your document has in it. Now go to your 'Insert' Tab and look for the 'Page Number' menu/button and drop it down to the 'Format page numbers.' In this dialog box, what does it read for 'Page Numbering/Start at:'?
If you have changed this setting to start at a new number, that is now the new page parameter set. That should be the beginning of the print dialog box print range. So say you have it set to 'Start at: 9' When you go to print the page range in the print dialog box your document is actually set now as Pages: 9-29. If you only want to print the last ten pages you need to say print range '19-29'.
Hope that helps. I just had this issue. For me the problem was due to section breaks in my document. I had to specify my print range with the following format pXsY where Y is the section number and X is the page number with in that section ex. P4s7 is the fourth page in section 7 of the document. According to the dialog box this can be done with specific page numbers as well as page ranges ie.
P2s4, p3s4, p4s4 or p2s4 - p4s4. Specifying the over all document page number did not work for me. Ie if page 2 of section 4 was the 8th over all page in the document specifying page 8 printed nothing. FormatFighter wrote: I just had this issue. This was the first stop i came to on a google of this issue This post worked perfectly for me and it looks to me like it occures on mail merge documents sometimes in my environment (this could be down to the code used to produce them mind). YMMV with the mail merge thing however so do experiment and see what works for you.
I have a user that has a WORD document that is approx. He wants to print page ranges, and it does not work. By trying several printers at several workstations, I have determined that the problem is in WORD. Also, if I open the document in OpenOffice, the page ranges print fine. There are chapters, etc. In the document.
The user believes that somehow WORD is reading the page number IN the document rather than the page number OF the document. I'm not convinced that's the problem, but I have no idea what to do??? He uses WORD 2007, but the document is saved in 2000/2003 format.
Microsoft Word For Mac Won't Print
A document can be printed in a number of ways. By using the Print icon from the Standard Toolbar, a document will be instantly printed. However, this is not always recommended. Because it causes the document to print instantly, it does not allow the user to adjust any printing options. The printing method that allows the users to have the most options is to select 'File' and then 'Print' from the top menu. This will bring up the Print dialog box. (Ctrl+P will also bring up the Print dialog box.) From this tool, the user now has a plethora of printing options.
